How to go on safari without breaking the bank - Kruger Park, South Africa

How to go on safari without breaking the bank - Kruger Park, South Africa

For many of us, going on a safari seems like a trip that you will need to save up for, for ages.  Which, it can be.

But there are ways to save and not pay the high prices that some luxury lodges are charging.

My three, tips to safari on a budget:

1. Rent a car and drive yourself to the park.  Choosing to be collected from the airport and driven can be a costly expenditure that typically comes with booking through a private lodge just outside of the park.

2. Stay in the park in one of the rest camp sites.  These are enclosed areas within the park that have bungalows or areas where you can self camp.  Now, if you don't feel like lugging all of your gear (or going out to purchase it at that) staying in the bungalows is a great and affordable option (compared to the private lodges outside of the park).

3. Self drive - renting a car from the airport and driving throughout the park yourself will save you money, but also will allow you to control your own schedule as you can come and go as you please.

Let me know if you have any more tips for doing this a more affordable way!
